Programme overview

Accelerate your career in business management, property management, information governance or business development by upskilling in a specialisation of your choice.

The 120-point Postgraduate Diploma in Business is best suited to early career managers who would like to pathway into a professional masters degree.

For entry into the programme, you will need a bachelors degree plus a minimum of two years' work experience. If you do not have an undergraduate degree you need to have completed five or more years of relevant work experience.

You will be equipped with a sound understanding of business concepts as well as a strong platform of professional skills to enhance your employability and give you an edge in the job market.

Five specialisations are offered in this postgraduate diploma programme:

  • Business Management (available from Quarter Two, 2022)
  • Business Development (available from Quarter Two, 2022)
  • Information Governance (available from Quarter Two, 2022)
  • Property Practice (available from Quarter Two, 2022)
  • Māori Development

For further information about the specialisations in Business Development, Property Practice, and Information Governance, please refer to University of Auckland Online. These specialisations will only be available online.

The specialisation in Business Management will be delivered through a combination of online and campus-based delivery. The first 60 points will be delivered through University of Auckland Online and the final 60 points will be available at both the City and South Auckland campuses.

The PGDipBus programme is currently open to domestic students only.

Students usually complete their programme in either 1 year (30 points per quarter) or 2 years (15 points per quarter).

The PGDipBus provides pathways to further study at the masters level.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Business (60 points) is available as an exit option or for students seeking a shorter qualification.

For entry into the programme, you will need a bachelors degree plus a minimum of two years' work experience. If you do not have an undergraduate degree you need to have completed five or more years of relevant work experience.

Relevant work experience enables you to demonstrate that you have practical and professional experience that is equivalent to the completion of a prior undergraduate degree.

How much does a Postgraduate Diploma in Business cost per year?

2025 fees

The PGDipBus  is a 120 point part-time programme usually completed in two years.

NZ$10,963.20 – $21,432*

Fees are set in advance of each calendar year and will be updated on this website. Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Amounts shown are indicative only. In addition to the tuition fees, there is a Student Services Fee of $8.88 per point, estimated at $1,065.60 for full-time study (120 points). Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.
