Our guest speaker is Professor Rochelle Constantine, a marine ecologist and conservation biologist at the University of Auckland. She runs collaborative research projects from the tropics to Antarctica and works closely with industry, governments, and local people to affect change.
A large, connected network of ecosystems covers 70% of this planet we share with a rich array of biodiversity. Many of the large ocean animals such as whales, manta rays and seabirds travel thousands of kilometres in search of prey or breeding grounds, connecting us through international and national waters.
Ocean life is facing many stressors – from climate change, fishing pressures, pollution and habitat degradation. But innovative research can inform collective change that does make a difference for a more thriving ocean in the future.
Please join us at this Alumni After Hours event to hear about Rochelle’s fascinating research and to catch up with fellow University of Auckland graduates.
