Undergraduate application guide
If you are applying for a degree, certificate or other undergraduate programme, follow our step-by-step guide covering applications, admission and enrolment.

Step 1. Information needed
Before applying, you will need:
- A personal email address
- Information on your prior study, including qualification codes or identification numbers. For example:
- National Student Number NSN for NCEA students
- Candidate Code of Centre ID Code for CIE students in NZ
- Personal Code for IB students in NZ
Step 2. Register for an account
You will need to register for an account if you are applying for the first time or don't have an existing account. Find out more by visiting Register for an account.
To register:
- Go to the University Single Sign-On page and click Register for a new account
- You can select Realme, LinkedIn, Google, Facebook, or you can register manually
- Complete the required fields for the option selected
- You account is now ready to be used for the application process

Step 3. Complete your application
Once you have created an account, go to the application portal to apply for your programme of study. This includes:
- Selecting your first language
- Providing your academic history
- Choosing the study option you would like to apply for
- Provide any supporting information asked of you
- Read the declaration and submit your application
Tip: You can always save your application and come back to it later.
Step 4. Supporting documents
Within two working days, you will recieve an acknowledgement email with:
- A list of the supporting documents we need from you
- A Student ID number if this is the first time you are applying to the University of Auckland

Step 5. Track your application
If you applied for the next semester intake, an admission decision will be made within four weeks from the receipt of your required documents, excluding your ID documents.
Delays may occur for future semester intakes and during peak admission periods (September-January and May-July). Some documents may take longer to process than others.
The time taken to notify you of an offer of place can vary depending on the assessment of programme-specific requirements such as a portfolio, audition and/or interview.
You can view the status of your application by visiting the Application portal.
Step 6. Accept or decline your offer
If you have been made an offer of place, you will be able to accept or decline the offer through the application portal.
When you accept the offer of place, you are admitted to your programme. You will receive an acceptance email with information on how to enrol.
If you have a conditional offer of place, you will need to meet all the conditions before you can enrol.

Step 7. Enrol in courses
If you have accepted your offer, you can now enrol in the courses for your programme. For more information about enrolment and choosing your courses, visit Enrolment.
Step 8. Paying your fees
The fees you pay are based on the courses you enrol in. For information about fees and your payment options, visit Fees and money matters.
