Programme overview
This diploma is aimed at improving the standard of obstetric and gynaecological care provided by general practitioners working in the community.
You will undergo a programme of practical training and formal education.
Programme structure
- 120-point postgraduate diploma programme
- Completed within one year full-time or four years part-time
- Enter from an undergraduate medical degree
- Seven core courses cover contraception in pregnancy, postnatal care, medical gynaecology, residential obstetrics and gynaecology (120 points)

2024 entry requirements
Programme requirements
Entry to this diploma is limited to 25 students per year.
You must have completed an undergraduate degree in medicine, such as the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), at a recognised university (or similar institution).
You will also need to hold current registration as a medical practitioner and have at least 6 months of O&G attachment in a hospital approved by the University of Auckland.
You will be asked to provide a current CV.

If you are an international applicant whose first language is not English you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency.
You will require an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no bands less than 6.0. See alternative English language requirements.
