Programme overview
From Mathematics to Medicinal Chemistry; Biotechnology to Geography and Food Science to Photonics, the sheer range of specialisations available in the BSc(Hons) programme means you’re sure to find your niche. What’s more, you’ll be able to deepen your knowledge and skills in your specialist area.
After graduating with a BSc(Hons), it’s possible to progress to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. If you achieve First or Second Class First Division Honours in your BSc(Hons), you’ll be eligible for direct entry to a PhD.
Programme structure
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) programme involves one year of full-time study, or two years of part-time study, after you have completed the requirements for the Bachelor of Science.
Depending on your chosen specialisation, you must complete:
- 120 points from the 700-level courses for your chosen specialisation, including a project or dissertation of between 30 and 60 points.

You must have completed a Bachelor of Science with at least 90 points above Stage II. You will need a GPA of 5.0 or higher in 45 points above Stage II in your intended specialisation.
Some specialisations may require you to have completed specific courses in your undergraduate degree and/or have a different GPA grade to the Minimum programme requirements listed on this page, you can find these in the BSc(Hons) Schedule.
Other pathways to study
If you do not meet these requirements, you can apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Science, if you have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in 75 points above Stage II, or equivalent.

Fees are set in advance of each calendar year and will be updated on this website. Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Amounts shown are indicative only. In addition to the tuition fees, there is a Student Services Fee of $8.88 per point, estimated at $1,065.60 for full-time study (120 points). Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.
