The annual Clubs Awards was held on Friday 9 October. Find out who walked away with an award on the night.
Supreme Club of the Year
Winner
Canoe Club
The Canoe Club were dedicated to supporting not just their own members, but the wider community this year. They ran a successful club fundraiser on the Kaituna river, raising over $1,000 and donating $500 to a vandalised Aniwhenua reserve (Bay of Plenty). In addition, they built relationships with Vector Wero (Manukau) for future school outreach opportunities and connected with fellow outdoor clubs during lockdown to support others through the isolating period.
They’re known for their inclusive and friendly culture among both new and existing members, with their activities this year including running a 150-member trip, holding two beginner-focused kayaking weekends, participating in a Tongariro River recreational release, hosting a club championship and implementing an equity strategy to increase accessibility to whitewater sports. They won 50% of the podium prizes this year at the whitewater festival, plus the raft building team challenge.

The Prevocational Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society of New Zealand
The Prevocational Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society has hit the ground running! They organised a National Menstrual Hygiene Collection Drive, where they collected hundreds of menstrual products for homeless women throughout New Zealand. Despite Covid-19 they have had a year packed full of events and aren’t finished yet!
Academic Club of the Year

Students of Urban Planning and Architecture
SUPA have worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between urban planning and architecture students this year by running social activities including their courtyard parties and a quiz night. They also hosted a successful panel discussion evening with high-profile panellists from Bossley Architects and Beca.

Social Innovation New Zealand
Social Innovation’s goal is to empower young people to enact social change and nurture them to become future changemakers. They have seen a staggering 150% increase in their membership numbers this year and have hosted a whole heap of events including their flagship Social Innovation Conference featuring the CEO of Cookie Project. They also partnered with Samsung to create a new competition encouraging participants to consider innovative solutions to address various social issues facing us today.

Athletes in Action
Athletes in Action are a Christian sports group on Campus driven by the goal to help athletes take their passion, faith and sport to new places. This year they increased their meetups to fortnightly rather than monthly in a bid to support their members and co-hosted a virtual SEEK conference, featuring an interview with NZ Olympian.
Cultural Club of the Year

Filipino Students' Association
FSA have worked tirelessly to keep the Filipino community connected this year, and share Filipino talents and interests online. This has included Musika Mondays and Talakayan Thursdays where they hosted podcasts of members discussing what it’s like to be Filipino; and Sining Saturdays displaying their communities artistic talents. FSA also ensured all Covid-19 messages were translated to their native tongue to ensure everyone understood governments updates and stayed safe.

Auckland Uni Fashion Society
This AUFS’s membership has grown to over 580 members in a year whilst their sponsorship list extends to 21. Their first online event was a jewellery making workshop where members could learn how to make rings, earrings, necklaces and other jewellery from scratch. They also collaborated with Unleash Space to offer their members an online laser cutting workshop, opening up the chance for their members to use the space for their fashion needs.
