Entry and interview
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
MBChB applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, UCAT ANZ performance and personal qualities exhibited during the admission interview (MMI).
There are two application categories for entry into the MBChB:
1. First year entry: First year applicants may apply from either the BHSc or BSc (Biomedical Science) at the University of Auckland
2. Graduate entry

UCAT ANZ (University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand)
All MBChB applicants (except international graduates) are required to sit the UCAT ANZ in the year of application to MBChB.
UCAT ANZ is not required for BMedImag(Hons), BOptom, BPharm, MAud or MHSc NUDI applications.
A reminder that registrations for the UCAT ANZ are open now. Each applicant must complete the registration process directly via the UCAT ANZ website – University staff are not able to assist with this process.

Bachelor of Optometry (BOptom)
BOptom applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit and personal qualities exhibited during the admission interview (MMI).
There are two application categories for entry into the BOptom:
- Undergraduate entry: First year applicants may apply from either the BSc (Biomedical Science) at the University of Auckland or the HSFY at the University of Otago
- Graduate entry

Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm)
BPharm applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit and personal qualities exhibited during the admission interview (MMI).
There are two application categories for entry into the BPharm:
- First year entry: First year applicants may apply from either the BHSc or BSc at the University of Auckland
- Alternative Admission entry

Bachelor of Medical Imaging (Hons) (BMedImag(Hons))
BMedImag(Hons) applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit and personal qualities exhibited during the admission interview (MMI).
There are two application categories for entry into the BMedImag(Hons):
- Undergraduate entry: First year applicants may apply from either the BSc (Biomedical Science) at the University of Auckland or the HSFY at the University of Otago
- Graduate entry

Master of Audiology (MAud)
MAud applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit and personal qualities exhibited during the admission interview (MMI).

Master of Health Sciences in Nutrition and Dietetics (MHSc Nutrition and Dietetics)
MHSc Nutrition and Dietetics applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit and personal qualities exhibited during the admission interview (MMI).

Multi Mini Interviews (MMI)
Students applying for the MBChB, BOptom, BPharm, BMedImag(Hons), MAud and MHSc Nutrition and Dietetics must complete Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI). The MMIs are a compulsory part of the application process for the above clinical programmes.
Admission appeal guidelines
Please note that the grounds for appeal are limited to matters of process related to the prescribed application procedure. It cannot consider matters of professional judgement.
