Filming on campus

For events or activities that involve filming anywhere on campus, an assessment and approval is required by the appropriate teams within the University.

Before approval for filming can be given, consideration is needed to ensure that filming does not impact teaching or other key University activities.

For filming on campus that is directly for news or media, requests should be made to the University’s Media and Communications team, via staff-comms@auckland.ac.nz.

For filming by University students where the filming is required directly as part of their studies, contact the Media and Communications team, via staff-comms@auckland.ac.nz.
so that clearance is arranged.

For all other filming, including commercial filming

This includes advertisements, films and TV shows. Also any filming that will be screened beyond the University.

Please complete and submit an External Filming Request Form. Before submitting your request it is highly recommended that you read the University’s Guidelines for filming on campus.

Once submitted, the filming request form will be received by the University’s Event Coordination Group, who will review and respond with guidance, advice and next steps. Filming may not proceed until approval is received via the Event Coordination Group.
