Postgraduate study online

Explore the range of online courses that can be taken as part of your postgraduate qualification at the Faculty of Education and Social Work.

Your time is precious

We understand that time is an important factor in your decision to start or continue postgraduate study, particularly for busy professionals working in education, social and community contexts where part-time study after work hours is often the only way.

Our courses are offered in a range of delivery modes to suit all students, from working professionals to distance learners.

As well as face-to-face options, we have online, blended and hybrid delivery modes. You can choose the courses that work best for your lifestyle, family and work commitments.

Delivery modes

Online

Course work and assessments are all completed online. There is no need to visit campus, but students keep in touch with lecturers and fellow students through online group discussions, chat rooms, collaborative online activities and email.

Blended

Courses are taught through a combination of compulsory face-to-face classes and online activities. The face-to-face components are scheduled outside of typical work hours to suit working professionals (usually as block course, weekend or evening sessions). Course materials can all be accessed online.

Hybrid/Virtual Classroom

Hybrid courses are taught simultaneously in two modes: a face-to-face or blended stream and an online stream. Students in the blended stream will have some compulsory in-class sessions on campus and complete the rest of the course online. Students in the online stream will join the compulsory on-campus sessions remotely using a video-conference function and complete the rest of the course online. Through our advanced virtual classroom facilities, students in both streams will participate in group work and class discussions together.

University of Auckland Online

University of Auckland Online (UoA Online) allows students to complete their entire programme through a set of prescribed fully-online courses.

Unlike other programme options where students can choose individual courses with different delivery modes, UoA Online programmes have pre-set courses which are all completed online.
