Motor Neuron Disease Research Lab Fund
Your donations help us to fund the students, researchers and research materials we need to learn about motor neuron disease.
The Motor Neuron Disease Research Lab at the University of Auckland examines the genes, blood, skin cells and brain tissue of individuals affected by motor neuron disease.
The generous gift of these tissues by healthy controls and people living with MND allows us to learn about how motor neurons are damaged and how to prevent or reverse that damage. For example, we treat brain and skin cells as a ‘disease-in-a-dish’ to understand why toxic proteins accumulate inside of cells in the disease, and how we can encourage cells to break those proteins down.
