University of Auckland climbs in QS World University Rankings

The University of Auckland has achieved its highest ranking – 65th in the world – since the new global QS ranking system was introduced in 2013.

Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland continues to climb in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (WUR), achieving its highest result in more than a decade.

The University has moved up to 65 in the world, an improvement on the 2024 ranking of 68. This reflects a consistent upward trajectory in academic and research excellence, despite the challenges of the past few years. By comparison, the University was ranked 85 in the world in 2019.

More than 1,500 tertiary institutions around the world were evaluated in 106 locations, with eight from Aotearoa New Zealand. The University of Auckland was the only New Zealand university in the top 100 and it surpassed 95.7 percent of institutions worldwide in the evaluations.

Best graduate employability

The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading university for Graduate Employability.

The University has been ranked #1 in New Zealand and #68 worldwide in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2023.

Ranked top in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings

The University has been ranked twelth in the world in the Times Higher Education Impact rankings for 2023. This covers achievements related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including: inclusive and equitable education, gender equality and innovation.

We have been ranked 30 in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject: Education. This highlights the universities that are leading across education, teacher training and academic studies in education subjects.
