A crop to feed us in a time of climate emergency

Three thirsty crops, rice, wheat and maize comprise more than half of humanity's diet. In a world running out of fresh water, we need to look for a more sustainable staple food crop.
VIDEO: Dr Fan Zhu, Faculty of Science, presented his research on quinoa as the best candidate for a sustainable food crop of the future. Dr Zhu was invited to speak at the 2024 Researchers with Global Impact event, hosted by Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.
