Repair Café Aotearoa

As part of the University of Auckland's Volunteer Impact Week, we're excited to highlight the remarkable work of Repair Café Aotearoa New Zealand (RCANZ).

Repair Workshop

Founded by our alumni, RCANZ has been a driving force in promoting sustainability and community resilience through the Repair Café movement since its official launch in October 2021.RCANZ, operating under the Repair Network Aotearoa Trust, plays a crucial role in supporting over 75 Repair Cafés across New Zealand.

Their work helps reduce waste, fosters community connections, and advocates for the Right to Repair, aligning with broader goals of waste minimisation and climate justice.By providing essential support, promoting events, and assisting in the setup of new Repair Cafés, RCANZ empowers local communities to engage in fun, inclusive repair activities.

They continue to build on the legacy of Repair Cafés, which began in Aotearoa with the Lyttelton Harbour Timebank's initiative in 2013.
