Preserve native bush and improve access to recreational mountain biking
Help Haven Mountain Bike Park continue to preserve Banks Peninsula land while giving something back to the cycling community.
Volunteering Canterbury aims to see people and communities prospering through volunteering, by matching willing volunteers with local not-for-profit community groups. Support from volunteers enables these groups to carry out their crucial work in the community. Whether you want to volunteer as an individual or within a group, they can connect you with the right people and help you make a difference!
One such organisation is Haven Mountain Bike Park, who build intermediate-level mountain bike trails amongst a restored native forest on a historical piece of Banks Peninsula rock. Their team has built, either by hand or with a tiny digger, just over 29.5kms of track! Volunteers help to keep these tracks in good order and tidy up the surrounding vegetation. Tools and training are provided, all you need is a willingness to work hard and a desire to give back to the land and the cycling community.
