About the Distinguished Alumni Awards
Held annually, the Distinguished Alumni Awards honour University alumni who have made outstanding contributions to their professions, their communities, to their nation, and beyond.
Who gives the award?
The awards are bestowed by the University of Auckland and the University of Auckland Society - an organisation that advocates on the University’s behalf and supports a wide range of activities.
Recipients are selected by a special Distinguished Alumni Award Selection Panel appointed by the Vice-Chancellor, which includes a member of the Society.
Award categories
Up to five awards are presented each year, with winners typically spanning across the University’s faculties, such as arts, science, medicine, engineering, and the creative arts.
There’s also an award honouring a young alumnus or alumna. These are individuals under 35 years of age who have demonstrated outstanding achievement.
