Learning Schools Model
The Learning Schools Model is a research-practice partnership designed in Te Pūtahi | Woolf Fisher Research Centre to support to schools to address urgent and shared problems of practice in a sustainable way.
The Model has been tested in five countries including Aotearoa, New Zealand, since early the 2000s and has, in general, improved valued educational outcomes (e.g. literacy, high school qualifications) for primarily indigenous Māori and Pacific Island students. It has been successfully used in a range of contexts including in rural and urban schools serving range of socio-economic communities, and with a wide range of ethnic groups.
The work has received international and local recognition including the co-designers being awarded the University of Auckland Research Excellence Award (2015) for research of demonstrable impact and reach. A professional learning and development version of the Model is currently offered in conjunction with Tui Tuia | Learning Circle.
