Kennedy Limpus – Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Education
The conjoint programme allowed Kennedy to combine his passions for sport and business, preparing him for a career in the fast-growing sport and health industry.
“My passion in life has always been sports and physical activity and while at high school I became interested in business and economics. So, when I heard about the conjoint Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Education, it was a natural choice for me.
“Through the programme, it’s clear to see the link between both the sporting and business worlds and it’s really interesting to see how ideas and practices from both worlds are connected. I've also met a variety of young, like-minded people and developed lasting friendships.
The programme has allowed me to identify my passions and the new possibilities that are available within the industry.
“The sporting and business worlds are now more intertwined than ever, with both sharing a number of similar skill sets. The programme has allowed me to identify my passions and the new possibilities that are available within the industry.
"I believe my studies have set me up to thrive in a modern and progressive setting, where I am able to follow my passion of working in the ever-growing sporting world.”
Since graduating, Kennedy has started a job as the West Auckland Rugby Delivery Lead. As part of the schools team at Auckland Rugby, Kennedy’s current role sees him helping to organise the rugby programmes for secondary schools in West Auckland, as well as tournaments and coaches visits for West Auckland primary and intermediate schools.
“It’s a perfect combination of the skills I developed through my conjoint degree and I’m really enjoying getting to work with young people.”
