Bachelor of Social Justice Studies

The Bachelor of Social Justice Studies is not accepting students until 2026.

Find solutions to social challenges, create positive change and help build fairer, stronger communities with this multifaceted new programme.

By studying the Bachelor of Social Justice Studies you will be able to tailor your educational journey around your interests while equipping yourself with knowledge and skills to critically understand and address a range of pressing social inequities, divisions and issues facing Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

The flexibility and depth of this programme is what makes it truly unique. While it is grounded in theory, you will get hands-on experience. You will learn to analyse social problems and develop strategies for creating a more just and equitable society, developing critical thinking, leadership skills and the practical experience required to pursue careers where the betterment of communities and society are matters of acute concern.

In addition to coursework, you will be able to contribute directly to social justice efforts through a variety of experiential learning opportunities, such as internships, community-based research projects, and service learning. The aim is to enable you, throughout your degree, to apply the knowledge learnt in real-world settings.

Study options include three main focuses: Community Action and Change-Making, Intergenerational Justice and Sustainable Futures and Global Justice, Belonging and Responsibility.
