Covid-19 risk planning

Safety resources for faculties and service divisions to plan for activities on site during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Covid-19 Health and Safety plan

Each faculty, large scale research institute (LSRI), service division, and all of their contractors, operating at the New Zealand Government's Alert Level 3 or 2 must have a Covid-19 Health and Safety, or Control Plan in place.  These plans will guide how University of Auckland faculties, service divisions and contractors will manage work on site, and the controls they will use to minimise the risk of Covid-19 transmission.

The Covid-19 controls are over and above the existing health and safety policy requirements for the University of Auckland. It is the responsibility of the faculty deans, and service division and LSRI directors to ensure that a workable Covid-19 plan is in place.  Th below site-specific health and safety plan has been developed as an example to ensure controls are in place that are specific to the Covid-19 pandemic. These protocols apply at Alert Levels 3 and 2, and this document can be used as a guide for faculties, LSRIs and service divisions to ensure they are met.

Level 3 and 2 protocols are separated into six sections:

  • Before arriving at the University
  • Entry to University
  • Faculty operations (including deliveries & visitors)
  • Leaving the University
  • Emergency Management Protocols
  • Monitoring/enforcement

Covid-19 generic risk assessment

Risk assessments are required for University activities on and off campus, and activities that occur during Levels 3 and 2 of the Covid-19 pandemic must have specific Covid-19 related assessment and controls. This is a sample risk assessment document that can be used to assist with putting in place suggested controls for research, lab work, teaching or other activity on or off campus during these levels.

Covid-19 contractor assessment

The vast majority of external service providers will be organised by the Property Services teams, however if you do have a provider that needs to be at the campus AND you have approvals in place to do so, regular checks of the plans and actions of these providers is important to ensure that our obligations to manage Covid-19 risks are met.

Once an external service provider has received approval to resume providing the service, see below an example of an audit/check template for the ongoing monitoring of that service in compliance with University and Government guidelines.
