Strange new worlds: Art from the science of bioengineering
25 March 2025
Researchers from the Auckland Bioengineering Institute blend art with science to explore and understand the mysteries of human and animal physiology.

SPECIAL FEATURE: At the Auckland Bioengineering Institute teams of researchers apply engineering expertise to understand the complex structures and systems in human and animal biology and physiology.
Based at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, their goal is to create digital twins. Their ambition is to take away the guesswork and reduce the risk of surgery and clinical therapies. As part of this researchers have created novel ways to visualise human and animal physiology.. The Auckland Bioengineering Institute's Art of Bioengineering exhibition encourages academics and postgraduate students to explore the interconnections between art, biology and engineering.
