Welcome to Carlaw Park. We hope that you will find your stay here comfortable and enjoyable.

Our staff are on hand to assist you with any aspect of your stay. If you have any questions, please come and see us at Reception.

Monday-Sunday: 9am-5pm

Reception is available 24/7 from Stuart McCutcheon House outside these hours.

Summer Assistants are on call outside of these hours 027 707 9813.


General information

Your key and access tag
To gain entry to the building wave your blue swipe tag over the black sensor box at the main door and at the sensors by each elevator on the ground floor.

Check out time
Check out at Carlaw Park is 10am. Late check out may be available; please enquire at Reception for this service. For any early check out please advise the team at Reception of your time of departure. Upon your departure please place your keys in the drop box at Reception.

Booking changes
Booking changes are subject to availability. Please see the Reception soonest to discuss your options and prepayment if applicable.

Internet
Carlaw Park has wireless internet provided by the University of Auckland. WiFi instructions are available at Reception. Eduroam users may also use their credentials on the WiFi.

Communal areas
Please feel free to use the communal games room, lounge, dining area and kitchen - we ask that you are respectful of other residents and clear up after you are finished.

Laundry rooms
The laundry room is located in building 833 (behind Reception, and in the basement. Machines are free to use, detergent is not supplied. Irons and ironing boards are also located in the laundry room.

Car parking
There is ‘Pay and Display’ parking located under Carlaw Park managed by Wilsons Parking. There is also an adjacent car park behind the Quest Carlaw Park, also book-able through Wilsons.

Air conditioning units/heating
Your apartment is equipped with air conditioning units/heat pumps in the lounges. If you would like to enjoy the use of the air conditioning unit you will find the control panel on the wall underneath it. Simply press the ON button, make sure the setting is cool and set your ideal temperature.

Television
There is a television in your apartment lounge with access to NZ Digital free to air channels.

Towels and amenities
Please see Reception if you require a top up of amenities. Dependent on your length of stay you will be advised of the day to expect housekeeping service by Reception.

BBQ
A large barbecue is available for hire. Please see the Reception to review availability and prepayment. Equipment and utensils are provided. The establishment thanks you for leaving the facility in a presentable and clean state.

Vending machines
Vending machines are located on various floors. Please note that vending machines accept card payments.

External gates
The external gates to the complex lock between the hours of 12midnight-5am and on some public holidays. Please use your access card to use the pedestrian gates at the main entrance or via the carpark and the lifts.


Security and Policies

Alcohol
A reasonable amount and use of alcohol is permitted in your apartment. Out of respect to your neighbours please do not consume alcohol in any of the public areas of the Village.

Maintenance
If you have any problems that require maintenance, please contact Reception during office hours. This will be seen to as soon as possible.

Damage to rooms
You will be personally liable for any damages to your room incurred during your stay.

Loss or damage of property
We assume no responsibility for your personal property or the personal property of your guests.

Fire safety
If you discover a fire, please call the New Zealand emergency services on 111 and sound your nearest fire alarm. On the sounding of the fire alarm, please head to your nearest exit and proceed to the evacuation area outside of the Quest Hotel on Nicholls Lane. Fire Wardens will ensure a timely evacuation and notify you when the NZ Fire Service has deemed the building safe.

Non-smoking policy
The University of Auckland is proud to be smoke free on all of its properties. If you would like to smoke or vape, please head to the public street outside of Carlaw Park.

Emergency and after hours support
If you encounter an emergency situation, please contact the NZ emergency services on 111. If you require after hours support from one of our staff for a situation (e.g. a lock out) please call them on 027 707 9813.

Lock outs
If you lock yourself out of the building or your room outside the hours of 8am-10pm then you will be charged $20.00NZD for each lock out. Please see staff for assistance in the event of a lock out.

Room use
You must not perform any services or trade while in your room or use your room for commercial purposes.
