Welcome to Waiparūrū Hall. We hope that you will find your stay here comfortable and enjoyable. Our staff are on hand to assist you with any aspect of your stay. If you have any questions, please come and see us at Reception or call the duty phone 021 989 638.

General information

Your key and access tag
To gain entry to the building wave your Summer Stays access card close to the sensor box at the main door and the door at Reception, and at the lifts at each tower – loss of keys will incur a charge.

Check out time
Check out at Waiparūrū Hall is 10am. For any early check out please advise the team at Reception of your time of departure. Upon your departure please return your access card to Reception. Lost access cards will incur a $50 charge.

Meal hours
Breakfast: 7-9am
If you have booked lunch or dinner the Dining Hall is located on level B1 of the Hall, down the orange stairs - please consult your group coordinator for times for your group.

Internet
Waiparūrū Hall has wireless internet provided by the University of Auckland. WiFi instructions are available at Reception. If you have any issues please contact Reception. Eduroam users may also use their credentials on the WiFi.

Kitchen and common facilities
There is a microwave, fridge, and kettle available in the common space on each floor. Additionally, a communal kitchen is on level 0 for more extensive meal preparation. Please be considerate of other guests and ensure that the equipment is cleaned and returned after use.

A television is also provided on each floor. Additional communal spaces are located on level 0. Please report any accidental damages to Reception.

Laundry rooms
The laundry room is located on the B2 level. Irons and ironing boards are also located in the laundry room.

Communal spaces
There are various communal spaces throughout Waipārūrū Hall, including meeting rooms, study spaces and recreational rooms (games and music). There are communal games rooms in each tower on level B2 which can be booked at Reception.

Vending machines
Vending machines are located in the games rooms on level B2 and are stocked with a variety of snacks and drinks. Please note that vending machines accept card payments.


Security and Policies

Alcohol
Please do not consume alcohol in any of the public areas of the hall.

Maintenance
If you have any problems that require maintenance, please contact Reception during office hours. This will be seen to as soon as possible.

Damage to rooms
You will be personally liable for any damages to your room incurred during your stay.

Loss or damage of property
We assume no responsibility for your personal property or the personal property of your guests.

Fire safety
If you discover a fire, please call the New Zealand emergency services on 111 and sound your nearest fire alarm. On the sounding of the fire alarm, please head to your nearest exit and proceed to the evacuation area outside The Columbia Apartments. Fire Wardens will ensure a timely evacuation and notify you when the NZ Fire Service has deemed the building safe.

Non-smoking policy
The University of Auckland is proud to be smoke free on all of its properties. If you would like to smoke or vape, please head to the public street outside of Waiparūrū Hall.

Emergency and after hours support
If you encounter an emergency situation, please contact the NZ emergency services on 111. If you require after hours support from one of our staff for a situation (e.g. a lock out) please call them on 021 989 638.

Lock outs
If you lock yourself out of the building or your room outside the hours of 8am-10pm you will be charged $25.00NZD for each lock out.
