Candidate: Bryn Harford

Read why Bryn Harford would like to represent students on the University of Auckland Council.

Bryn Harford

Kia Ora,

My name is Bryn Harford and I feel I am suitable to serve on the University of Auckland council as a member representing the student voice.

I feel I am suitable for these reasons:

  • I have stood as an active student council member both through my intermediate and college years of education – so I am aware of the protocols and systems of how a council works.
  • I work closely with team members on campus care (Te Papa Manaaki) – an important tool for students to manage their study here at university.
  • I have worked for parliamentary services, maintaining office for a local member – so am aware of lobbying and aligning the public with the state.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Music – doing additional papers in teaching and learning and languages.

Studying full-time and learning about tertiary education and how funding is managed is of high importance to me. The role/s that the university plays in terms of its accountability to government, honoring the founding principles ‘Te Tiriti o Waitangi’ of New Zealand and, the processes involved in decision making stimulate me.

I contribute to extra-curricular activities involving students in the university through gym activities, the university student choir and I’m learning to understand the Student Association.

I would love the opportunity to be the voice for students on the University of Auckland’s council.

Nga mihi,

Bryn Harford
