Kia ora fellow students,
I am Morteza, a law student with a rich background in higher education and a proven track record in student advocacy. Having recently returned to the University of Auckland to pursue my law degree, I bring a fresh perspective combined with extensive experience in enhancing the student experience.
During my PhD studies at this University, I actively addressed and resolved administrative and support issues, ensuring the University met its commitment to providing an exceptional environment for all students. This experience has refined my ability to navigate complex issues and advocate for meaningful changes effectively. As your student representative, I will draw on this experience to ensure our voices are heard at the highest levels of governance.
My background in programme development, policy implementation, and compliance management equips me with the skills to tackle the challenges facing our student body. I have a robust teaching background, specialising in language examination preparation and curriculum design, which helps me understand and address the academic needs of students. My involvement in large-scale research projects has further honed my analytical abilities, enabling me to approach complex issues with clarity and insight.
I am committed to making the University of Auckland a place where every student feels supported, valued, and empowered. I have consistently worked to bridge gaps between students and administration, advocating for policies that reflect our diverse needs. My cross-cultural communication skills ensure that I understand and address the concerns of students from all backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and equity within our academic community.
My experience in policy implementation and compliance management has provided me with strong organisational and strategic thinking skills. I am adept at managing complex issues, working collaboratively with various stakeholders, and implementing effective solutions. These skills will enable me to contribute to the University Council’s decision-making processes effectively.
I am eager to serve and advocate on your behalf, and I am confident that together we can make a significant impact on our University. Wishing you all the best in your studies, whatever you are studying and whichever year you are in.
Good luck!
