Support and services for Pacific research

At the University, we support Pacific research excellence and the growth of Pacific researchers. Our services connect researchers with Pacific communities, government agencies, research organisations, and other stakeholders across Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific region.

Fofonga

Fofonga for Pacific Research Excellence aims to enhance and
support Pacific research excellence and the growth of Pacific researchers at
Waipapa Taumata Rau. The platform promotes Pacific research excellence by:

  • Assisting researchers, faculties, and units in identifying opportunities.
  • Strengthening capacity.
  • Facilitating connections to share Pacific research across Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific Region.

The Pacific Early Career Academics Network (PECAN)

The Pacific Early Career Academics Network (PECAN) is a cross-University collaboration community open to all Pacific early career academics and Pacific doctoral students at the Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland. A central focus of PECAN is the development of academic citizenship. This is achieved by:

  • Supporting PECAN members through academic peer mentoring.
  • Expanding research capabilities.
  • Enhancing academic development.

Providing a space to discuss various challenges and strategies to manage and balance academic demands.
