Course reviews
Course reviews are a valuable step for both curriculum development and personal academic development for teaching staff. They are a key part of reflective practice and an opportunity to consider students’ performances and experiences in a course. They are an appropriate point in which to reflect on specific components of a course and to consider adjustments before its next offering.
Course reviews are required by the Enhancement and Evaluation of Teaching and Courses Policy and Procedures but this provides flexibility for the scope and format of reviews:
69. Course reviews must include evaluative reflection on course structure, content and delivery; assessment; learning outcomes; student feedback; staffing, resources and facilities.
Faculties have different requirements for the undertaking and format of course reviews, and most provide template documents or online forms.
