Scott Sause
Scott talks about how CDES helped support him find an exciting internship in Vietnam and a graduate role at ANZ.
"I am originally from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
"When I was young, my family moved back and forth between my home of Papua New Guinea, and New Zealand. It gave me the awesome opportunity to gain a unique viewpoint on life, as I got to see the world from two different perspectives.
"While growing up between these countries I was inspired by a lot of successful bankers, entrepreneurs and people in business who were able to create opportunities for others and help their communities thrive. This is what inspired me to complete a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland, with a double major in Operations and Supply Chain Management and Marketing.
"I knew the graduate application process would be very tough and competitive – this is why I wanted to get support from the CDES career consultant experts. I heard about the CDES team through the University website and met Pepe and Riki (career development consultants) when CDES organised an externship for Māori and Pacific students at Ernst and Young. This externship was very beneficial to me as I learnt more about the company, consulting and networking.
"They helped me restructure my CV in order to leverage my academic achievements and key experiences and gave me tips on how to make a great impression in an interview.
"It has been a big goal of mine to start out my graduate career at ANZ. When applications opened for ANZ’s Graduate Program, CDES help was really beneficial in preparing me. The interview process at ANZ was competitive and I was able to put their good advice to use. I was successful in my application and I was able to achieve one of my biggest goals to date!
They helped me restructure my CV in order to leverage my academic achievements and key experiences and gave me tips on how to make a great impression in an interview.
"The help from CDES was also beneficial in my application for the New Zealand Prime Minister's Scholarship. Being awarded this scholarship in 2018 gave me the opportunity to work with Prodigious (the Publicis Group) on business proposals for industry leading companies in Vietnam. My passion for consulting and engaging with clients really grew during this scholarship.
"Currently I am a Technology, Services and Operations Graduate at ANZ. I have the opportunity of learning from very successful and experienced individuals in business and banking. I’m also really happy to work for an organisation that focuses on shaping a world where people and communities thrive – a shared key value that really matters to me."
