Manuel Fernandes

Manuel is a recipient of the University of Auckland India High Achievers Scholarship and is studying a Master of Business Analytics.

"The scholarship was a great help for me to decide on pursuing my master's from New Zealand. It has helped reduce my financial burden and be more focused on my studies," he says. "The university’s distinguished reputation and good standing in the world and among the alumni persuaded me to choose the University of Auckland for my studies," he explains.

One of the aspects of Manuel's programme he appreciates most is the supportive and knowledgeable faculty. "The professors are very helpful as they address any queries we have regarding the topics clearly and also guide us in revising concepts," he says. He finds the lectures well-organised and valuable, providing adequate knowledge on the subjects and their practical applications.

"There were many services that are helpful to international students," he notes. He particularly appreciated the university’s airport pickup service and the assistance from the Student Hub, which helped with IT support tools and provided information on transport concessions and other practical matters of living in Auckland.

Manuel enjoys the relaxed and peaceful lifestyle in Auckland. "The weather may at times be a bit harsh, but I enjoy the ambience it provides as I have a cup of hot coffee indoors," he shares. He also values the opportunity to meet and interact with people from various countries and cultures, which has helped him broaden his perspective and develop a more open mind.

Life at the City Campus is vibrant and engaging. "The best part of the campus is that it conducts multiple events each week and keeps the moment lively," Manuel says. He adds that Orientation Week is a fun and interactive time, “it's an important time to network with classmates and create groups," Manuel notes.
