The University of Auckland participates in the Canadian Federal and Provincial Student Loan programmes. Our Institution Code is VUAB.
How to apply for the Canadian student loan(s)
Step one – Check your eligibility and submit an application. Contact the Financial Aid Coordinator at the University to complete your programme information section if required. See Canada Student Loans.
Step two – If you qualify, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility from your provincial/territorial student financial aid assistance office.
Step three – Contact the Financial Aid Coordinator at the University to complete the Confirmation of Enrolment section on your Certificate of Eligibility. This step cannot be completed until after your classes have started.
Step four – Submit your Certificate of Eligibility/Confirmation of Enrolment to the relevant Canadian department. Funds will be paid directly to you by the relevant Canadian department.
Deferment of previous Canadian student loans
If you don’t receive Canadian student loans for your current study at this University and wish to apply for interest-free status for your previous Canadian student loans and defer your repayment, contact the Financial Aid Coordinator at this University to complete Confirmation of Enrolment (Schedule 2).
Canadian Revenue Agency forms
If you wish to claim educational expenses from your Canadian taxes, please ask the the Financial Aid Coordinator at the University to complete a TL11A Tuition, Education, Textbook Amounts Certificate – University Outside Canada.
