University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship
In 2024, the Scholarship provides a tax-free stipend of up to $33,825pa, with an annual CPI adjustment to the stipend value, for up to 36 months of full-time study, plus tuition fees for international students who are eligible to study under the domestic fees policy, and the single student Health Insurance compulsory charge.
Students will be considered for a University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship at the time of application for a place in their doctoral programme.
Any student who is to be offered a place in a doctoral programme will be eligible for scholarship consideration prior to receiving their offer of place.
Each faculty/Large Scale Research Institute (LSRI)/University Research Centre (URC) will advertise their scholarship opportunities on their websites and when you apply for admission into your doctoral programme, you’ll indicate if you wish to be considered for one of those University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship opportunities.
Scholarships will be awarded in four scholarship/admission rounds each year. To be considered for a scholarship you’ll need to apply for the programme by either 1 November, 1 March, 1 June, or 1 September.
University of Auckland ASEAN High Achievers Scholarship
A Scholarship of up to $10,000 towards tuition fees for new international students from ASEAN countries enrolling in undergraduate degrees, masters degrees or postgraduate diplomas.
University of Auckland India High Achievers Scholarship
A Scholarship of up to $20,000 towards tuition fees for new international students from India enrolling full-time in undergraduate degrees, PGDip or masters degrees.
University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship
A Scholarship of up to $10,000 towards compulsory tuition fees for new International undergraduate and postgraduate students.
University of Auckland Summer Research Scholarships

Summer Research Scholarships are a great way to gain valuable research experience, work with leading researchers at the University of Auckland, enhance your career opportunities and help you think about pursuing postgraduate study.
Open to high-achieving domestic and international students who will have completed at least two years of equivalent full-time study in an undergraduate degree by December 2024.
Please check the regulations for specific requirements for your chosen faculty. Some faculties allow honors and postgraduate diploma students to apply for a scholarship and project. Students who have started a masters degree or doctoral programme are not eligible for these scholarships.
Applications for 2024-2025 have now closed. Applications for 2025-2026 will open mid-2025.

University of Auckland International Business Masters Scholarship
Business School
A Scholarship of up to $32,000 towards international student tuition fees for a masters programme in the University of Auckland Business School.
Scholarships are offered biannually, for the April and September intakes.
Faculty of Arts Sub-doctoral Postgraduate Scholarship
Faculty of Arts
A Scholarship of up to $10,000 towards compulsory tuition fees for domestic and international students enrolling full-time or part-time in a sub-doctoral postgraduate programme (masters, honours, PGDip) in the Faculty of Arts.
Faculty of Education and Social Work Postgraduate International Student Scholarship
Faculty of Education and Social Work
A Scholarship comprising a tuition fees credit of up to $7,000 for full-time postgraduate study in the Faculty of Education and Social Work in one of the programmes listed in Note I of the regulations.
No application is required for this Scholarship, you will considered automatically by the Faculty of Education and Social Work when you are offered a place in an eligible programme.
School of Medical Sciences International Masters Scholarship
Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences
A Scholarship to support international masters students in the School of Medical Sciences with a tuition fees credit of up to $20,000 per annum for the duration of their masters programme.
Creative Arts and Industries
Graeme Edwards Award in Music
An Award of up to $8,000 to support international and domestic undergraduate and postgraduate music students undertaking study in organ or early keyboard.
Beatrice Ratcliffe Postgraduate Scholarship in Music
A Scholarship of up to $10,000 to support a domestic or international student enrolled full-time or part-time in postgraduate study in Music.
Michael Redshaw Historical Instrument Performance Scholarship
Scholarships of up to $5,000 in total for international or domestic students undertaking postgraduate research in Music, focusing on the area of historical performance.
Colombo Plan Scholarship in Engineering
Faculty of Engineering
A Scholarship to assist an international student who is a citizen of a Colombo Plan member country with a contribution of $3,000 towards undergraduate or postgraduate tuition fees in Engineering.
Chillisoft Scholarship in Cybersecurity
Faculty of Science
A $5,000 Scholarship for international and domestic, undergraduate or postgraduate, full-time or part-time enrolment in the Faculty of Science in study relating to Cybersecurity.
