University of Alberta Research Experience (UARE)
The University of Alberta Research Experience is a research internship programme allowing top senior undergraduate students from key partner universities to conduct research at the University of Alberta in Canada under the supervision of faculty members who are experts in their field. There are two sessions for this 12-week placement. The UARE winter session typically takes place during January to March, and the UARE summer session typically takes place during May to July or July to September.
Students gain practical research experience in their academic discipline and receive a stipend of CAD$6,000 to assist with costs.
Steps to apply:
- Find your Project(s) of interest: Search the UARE website for available Research Projects here. Note, some flexibility in project timing may be offered for University of Auckland participants.
- Apply to the University of Alberta: Be sure to carefully review the information on the University of Alberta website on How to Apply, and apply by the deadline. Applications for the 2025 UARE Winter programme are open from 23 July and close on 19 August 2024.
- Register your Travel with 360 International: If admitted, you need to register your participation and travel details with 360 International.

Postgraduate Research Student Support (PReSS)
Doctoral students are given an annual research fund and account to assist with their study. The stipend is intended to help cover direct research costs. The amount is dependent on the subject area. Some funding may be used for overseas conferences.
