What can you study in Behaviour Analysis?

Behaviour analysis is a scientific approach to understanding and changing human behaviour. It has applications in a wide variety of settings, including supporting people with dementia, brain injury, and intellectual disabilities, and also in organisations supporting societal-level behaviour change, schools, and forensic settings. An understanding of behavioural principles provides a strong foundation for the analysis of complex human repertoires, including language and social behaviour. Successful graduates of the full Master of Behaviour Analysis Programme are eligible to become New Zealand Registered Psychologists and practice in New Zealand.

Where can Behaviour Analysis take you?

The science of behaviour analysis can be applied to a wide variety of client groups, including in businesses and other organisations. The degree develops students' critical cultural competences and research skills. These will equip graduates to become future psychologist leaders in New Zealand and internationally.

Graduates may find employment in a range of settings, including supporting people with brain injuries, dementia, intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as forensics, special and mainstream education, organisations, applied animal training, and mental health settings.

Entry requirements for the Master of Behaviour Analysis

Bachelor of Bachelor of Arts (BA) or (BSc) with a major in Psychology. Students must have a Grade Point Average of 5.0, or the equivalent as approved by the Programme Director. For students for whom English is a second language, an overall IELTS score of 7.0, with no grade less than 6.5 in any band, is required.

Where can postgraduate study in Behaviour Analysis take you?

Graduates of the Master of Behaviour Analysis will be eligible to apply for a place on the PGDipAppPysch and register as an Intern Psychologist to qualify for registration as a Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board.

Employment pathways include education, health, business, public and private organisations, and forensics.
