Programme overview

This postgraduate programme prepares you for a career as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist.Clinical Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals who design and deliver exercise for the prevention and management of chronic health problems such as musculoskeletal issues, diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease.

You will complete clinical placements at sites like the Health and Rehabilitation Clinic, undertaking the supervised work experience needed to gain professional registration.

Part 1: Theory

Part 2: Practical Learning

Part 3: Research Methods

  • 30 points: EXERSCI 722, 723 or 781A/B

A blend of theory and clinical practicum focused courses are delivered sequentially across three terms of study to support the translation of acquired knowledge and skills to clinical practice. Active learning and teaching methods are used to foster the development of critical thinking, clinical reasoning and independent learning. A key component of this internationally accredited programme is the completion of internal and external clinical placements to acquire a body of supervised clinical work experience that meets or exceeds the requirements for professional registration.

Bachelor of Science

You must have completed a Bachelor of Science from this University, with a Grade Point Average of 4.0 or higher and a major or specialisation in Exercise Science, or another relevant subject, or the equivalent prior study.

In exceptional circumstances, these requirements may be waived by the Associate Dean Academic, or nominee, if it is determined that you have at least three years of relevant practical, professional or scholarly experience.
