The Postgraduate Certificate in Data Science is an online qualification that provides a foundation for mastering data science. You will develop fundamental skills for algorithm development, data management and predictive modelling.
The course includes DATASCI 709, a 30pt course on data management covering the use of R and SQL to implement principles and best practice in modelling, wrangling, querying, updating, and visualising data.
A second 30pt course is an option between COMPSCI 717 or STATS 709, introducing fundamental techniques for designing efficient algorithms, and concepts for modern predictive modelling and machine learning, respectively.

Entry requirements
Completed the requirements for:
- Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Science or Statistics from this University with a Grade Point Average of 4.0 or higher in 75 points above Stage II, or the equivalent as approved by Senate or its representative
and
- COMPSCI 130, MATHS 108 and STATS 101, or equivalent courses approved by the Academic Head or nominee.
In exceptional circumstances, Senate or its representative may approve the admission of a student who has at least three years of extensive, relevant, practical, professional or scholarly experience deemed equivalent to the requirement in Regulation 1.
