MATHS 101G Mathematics in Society
Description
Explores some of the fundamental mathematical ideas that pervade everyday activity. Students use mathematical modelling and problem-solving techniques to analyse the situations behind phenomena as diverse as crop circles, drinking too much coffee, the environment and health.
The course is designed for students who have not studied Mathematics at NCEA Level 3 or equivalent. It is not available to students who have 12 credits or more in Mathematics at NCEA Level 3, or those who have passed Cambridge Mathematics A with an E or better, or those who have passed the International Baccalaureate Mathematics, or equivalent.
