Do you have great communication skills, initiative, and the desire to help improve the wellbeing of others? Then nursing could be the career for you.
Our highly respected Bachelor of Nursing (BNurs) programme will ensure that you have sound scientific knowledge and skills, as well as hands-on nursing experience. You'll participate in simulation learning using modern technology, practising your skills in a safe environment.
After that, you will work with real patients in one of our many clinical placements across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

Conjoint programmes let you pursue two undergraduate bachelors degrees at the same time.

- The BNurs is a six semester programme, comprised of three parts (360 points).
- It is structured to include a foundation year (Part I), where students study biological, physical and social sciences alongside other health professional students (105 points).
- Year Two (Part II) has two core courses: Nursing Clients with a Pathophysiological Problem (60 points) and Nursing in Mental Health, Addictions and Disability (60 points).
- Year Three (Part III) has two core courses: Child and Family Health Nursing (60 points) and Professional Nursing Practice (60 points).
- Clinical learning experiences are central to the overall purpose of the BNurs, so students will be immersed in a variety of clinical settings through years two and three.
- Clinical settings include acute and chronic health care facilities, inpatient and outpatient clinics, and institutional and community health agencies, along with primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare services.
Most students need to take one General Education course.
Students should also be aware of the University’s Academic English Language Requirement.

Further requirements
You must have completed one semester of successful bachelor degree study from a New Zealand tertiary institution, or one year of successful study as part of an acceptable sub-degree qualification from a New Zealand tertiary institution.
You will be ranked on your academic performance (based on a GPA or GPE of 4.0 or higher) and an interview.
If you have successfully completed the Certificate in Health Sciences with a GPA of 4.5 or better, you will be offered a place in the programme.

- General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. You must have completed a minimum of three A-Level subjects.

GCE ‘A’ Level requirements apply to ‘A’ Level qualifications examined by bodies such as AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC, CCEA and Pearson Education Limited taken outside of New Zealand.

After successful completion of the BNurs, graduates may apply for registration as a comprehensive nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. Nursing offers a varied career.
