Accessibility and parking for staff

Accessible parking

Parking is very limited on all of the University of Auckland's campuses, and particularly in the central city. There are a small number of accessible /mobility car parks available for students and staff who already have a Mobility Parking Permit from CCS Disability Action.

Staff who have permanent disabilities can contact carparking@auckland.ac.nz.

Staff with temporary mobility impairments, who require assistance with accessing University accessible car parking should follow the process below.

Note: If it is anticipated that accessible parking will be required for  longer than eight weeks, the staff member should apply to CCS Disability Action for a Mobility Permit and  carparking@auckland.ac.nz  for campus parking for one year. 

Process for obtaining a temporary permit for situations of less than eight weeks.

Staff who currently hold a University parking permit

If you currently have a parking permit,  but require temporary mobility parking either at the same car park or one closer to your place of work, email the following to temporarypark@auckland.ac.nz at least 5 business working days prior to the date required:

If the application is approved:

  • A temporary accessible parking permit will be issued.
  • While parking in University accessible car parks, relevant parking permits must be displayed at all times. i.e.
    • Both your University annual parking permit plus a Mobility Parking Permit from CCS Disability Action, or
    • Your University annual parking permit plus the temporary accessible parking permit.

Staff who do not hold a University parking permit

Staff who currently don’t have a parking permit, follow the same process above but are required to pay in advance for the duration if approved.

Please submit the following documents at least 10 working days prior to requested start date for this process:

If the application is approved:

  • Send the receipt to temporarypark@auckland.ac.nz at least two days before the approves start date.
  • A temporary accessible parking permit will be issued

While parking in University accessible car parks, the temporary accessible parking permit must be displayed at all times.

Please note that the inbox temporarypark@auckland.ac.nz is no longer managed by the Staff Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team. As of 1 March, the Car Parking team manages all staff temporary car parking queries including mobility carpark requests.
