The role of the Ihonuku Te Moananui-a-Kiwa, Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific

Key responsibilities include:

  • To implement the University’s strategy concerning Pacific staff and students, issues and communities.
  • To advise the Vice-Chancellor and senior leadership team on Pacific peoples, communities and the Pacific region.
  • To lead and support relationships between the University and Pacific staff, students, communities and the Pacific organizations.
  • To lead the University’s engagement and relationships with majority Pacific high schools, with the support of the Schools and Community Engagement team.

 Jemaima is also responsible for the Fale Pasifika complex.

Professor Jemaima Tiatia-Siau

Jemaima Tiatia-Siau is a professor in Pacific Studies, Te Wānanga o Waipapa, School of Māori Studies and Pacific Studies, in addition to being Pro-Vice Chancellor Pacific. She is of Samoan descent and specialises in the study, research, and teaching of suicide prevention and postvention, mental health and wellbeing, youth development, Pacific Studies, health inequities and climate change and mental wellbeing.
