The School of Environment offers internationally recognised programmes in Geography, and interdisciplinary programmes in Earth Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Science and Environmental Change. All of these programmes are relevant to SDG 11.
Featured subject: Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering focuses on buildings, infrastructure and development, and environmental management. This includes the working and living spaces people depend on, as well as critical infrastructure such as motorways, bridges, and water supply networks. The Faculty of Engineering offers Civil Engineering as a specialisation in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree and as a postgraduate subject. Civil Engineering is central to SDG 11.

Urban Planning addresses how our towns and cities can be improved to produce better social, cultural and environmental outcomes. This includes the factors that influence how urban environments operate, from policy and economics to design decisions, cultural issues, infrastructure and sustainability considerations. The Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries offers undergraduate and postgraduate Urban Planning programmes, highly relevant to SDG 11.
