Eligibility to teach your chosen subject

Are you eligible to teach your chosen secondary subjects?

To enter into one of our secondary teaching programmes, you must already hold a bachelors degree in an area related to the New Zealand secondary curriculum.

To specialise in your requested subjects, you will usually need to have completed papers up to 300 level (or the equivalent final year of study) in that subject.

All applicants are subject to an assessment of their previous qualifications by our academic selection team.

If you are not sure whether you are eligible to apply for a subject, please submit your application anyway. We will help you through the next stages of your application.

Once you are qualified as a teacher, you will be able to teach any subject that your school approves.
