All Bachelor of Laws (LLB) students must complete a series of compulsory courses across Parts I–IV of the degree.

These core courses build the foundational knowledge and analytical skills required for legal study and future professional practice.

Teaching format

  • LAW 201: One two-hour lecture per week, two-hour workshops (four rounds), and one-hour tutorials every fortnight (six tutorial rounds).
  • LAW 211 and LAW 241: One one-hour and one two-hour lecture per week, plus a one-hour tutorial every fortnight (eight tutorial rounds).
  • LAW 231: One one-hour and one two-hour lecture per week, one-hour tutorials (two rounds in Semester One), and two-hour workshops (four rounds throughout the year).
  • LAW 297: One compulsory two-hour workshop every fortnight (twelve rounds).

Compulsory courses for LLB Part III

As part of the University’s shift to 15-point courses, the following 2026 courses will have updated points and new codes:

Students enrol for LAW 498 in their final term of LLB Part IV.

Law 498 requires students to undertake research, participate in a moot, and complete a written assignment with requirements able to be met prior to enrolment.
