Professor Jaime King's Inaugural Address 2022
What We Owe Each Other: The Law and Sustainable Health Systems.
Our health is one of our most precious, and vulnerable, resources. When our health is threatened, so are our families, our livelihoods, our economies, and our societies. The question of what we owe each other has helped define and revise the laws governing health from the intimate confines of the physician-patient relationship to the balance of individual and state interests in medical decisions to the extent of a nation’s obligations to provide affordable and equitable access to health care.
Now, in a world of pandemics and climate change the question of “what we owe each other” has reached new heights of ethical, legal, political and medical importance. Professor King will explore the contours of this question in her scholarship and how the law can be a pivotal force in developing sustainable health systems for the future.
About Professor Jaime King
