The New Zealand Centre for Intellectual Property (NZCIP) is Aotearoa New Zealand’s first centre focused on intellectual property (IP) research and scholarship. The NZCIP is a joint enterprise with the Department of Commercial Law in the Business School and is situated in Auckland Law School.

Our aim

The aims of the NZCIP are to :

  • Undertake and promote world-class, high-quality scholarship concerning intellectual property law that makes a difference;
  • Provide a focal point for international intellectual property law academics;
  • Attract and develop future generations of intellectual property scholars and practitioners;
  • To contribute to public debate about intellectual property law.

The NZCIP maintains strong links with the Law School’s other research centres and the Legal Research Foundation, particularly the New Zealand Centre of  Advancing Law and Technology Responsibly (ALTeR).
