The Russell McVeagh Banking and Finance Law Masterclass series is designed to provide practical insights and discussion on a range of interesting topics in the banking and finance law space.

 The course is led by Jesse Fairley, a partner in the Russell McVeagh Banking and Finance team. Jesse has extensive experience advising on a range of complex and innovative financing transactions, with a focus on acquisition and leveraged finance, real estate finance, syndicated and club lending, structured finance and debt capital markets.

Topics for the classes:

Sustainable Finance 8 April 2025, 4 – 5 pm
A practical introduction to sustainability-linked loans and green bonds, including understanding the legal and market frameworks, and practical examples in the New Zealand economy.

Secured lending transactions – 6 May 2025, 4 – 5 pm
How does the PPSA work and what are the key practical issues in the context of a complex secured lending transaction.

Leveraged finance  3 June 2025, 4 – 5 pm
A practical case study working through the key considerations and issues that arise on a typical leveraged finance transaction.
