I was drawn to the University of Auckland for my studies due to its excellent reputation, conducive learning environment, and the presence of prestigious scholars in the legal field.

I am currently completing my PhD at the law school, my research focuses on the legal protection of expressions of folklore. Since my childhood, I’ve had a strong emotional connection to folklore. Despite it not being as modern or fashionable as AI or data-related topics, I chose this traditional field purely out of interest. I hope to actively fulfill my duty as a doctoral student through my three-year study.

The guidance and inspiration provided by my supervisors during my doctoral studies are invaluable to me. Both of my supervisors are leading experts in their respective fields. They have offered valuable suggestions that inspire my independent thinking, especially when I encounter opposing viewpoints. Their encouragement to stay committed to my academic goals has been crucial.

My experience as an international student at the University of Auckland has been incredibly positive. The campus community is open and inclusive. Whether I’m interacting with acquaintances or strangers, everyone is friendly and helpful. I appreciate the guidance I’ve received, whether it’s a helpful pointer in the right direction or a patient introduction to the study resources available in the University library. Speaking of which, I’m particularly impressed by the abundant and student-oriented learning resources offered by the University library.

I find great joy in immersing myself deeply in my studies, regardless of external events. While it may be not good to completely isolate oneself from the outside world, I always prepare a peaceful state of mind to embrace my dedicated study hours.

My career goal is to become a teacher at a higher education institution in China, focusing on IP law or related subjects. Personally, I believe that the doctoral degree I obtained from the University of Auckland will significantly contribute to my future academic career.

My advice for those thinking about studying at the University of Auckland would be to remember that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Nothing difficult if you put your heart on it.
