Paige Moor
Paige is studying LLB (Hons) and Commerce conjoint degree. She aspires to specialise in commercial law, particularly in mergers and acquisitions, combining her knowledge of law and accounting to excel in her future career.
Paige chose the University of Auckland for its excellent reputation, especially its renowned law school. "One of the main reasons I decided to attend the University of Auckland was because of the law school’s reputation as the best in the country," Paige explains. She believed that this choice would equip her with the skills necessary for a successful legal career and further ignite her passion for law. Completing her Honours Seminar was a challenging yet rewarding experience, allowing her to explore topics of personal interest and work towards her dissertation.
She appreciates the high-quality teaching at the University of Auckland, particularly the opportunity to learn from world-renowned legal academics. The diverse expertise of the lecturers provides insights into the practical applications of law, enriching her academic journey.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Paige is actively involved in the university community as the secretary of UoA Women in Law. This equity-based group is dedicated to breaking down barriers for women in legal education and careers. Through her role, Paige advocates for gender equity in the legal field and connects with like-minded individuals.
My advice to students thinking of studying at the University of Auckland is to go for it! The University is home to so many people, groups, and networks that there is truly a place for everyone. I think it is also a really good idea to research clubs and extracurriculars that align with your interests so you can find your people when you start your university journey.
Looking ahead, Paige plans to pursue a career in commercial law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions. Her dual degree in law and accounting has given her a unique blend of legal and business knowledge, which she believes will be invaluable in her future career.
