Studying at Auckland Law School was the only option for me. As the country's number 1 Law School, it seemed like the best place to learn about the legal system. The University of Auckland is home to a wide variety of academics and researchers who hold a rich array of experience and knowledge, many of whom are top experts in their fields. These were people I wanted to learn from. Not only does the Law School have a great calibre of academic staff, but they also provide you with a diverse and extensive range of opportunities. I knew that the University would be a place for me to try new things and figure out what I'm passionate about, so the variety of clubs and opportunities was a big reason for my choice.
I am currently in my second year of co-directing the Equal Justice Project (EJP), the Law School's student-run charity that promotes access to justice. The law is a tool to help our communities, and as students, there are ways we can help, such as writing bill submissions, educating others, volunteering, and conducting research. EJP has definitely been a highlight of my law school journey, and I am so proud of the mahi that our teams have put out. I have also been a cast member of the Auckland Law Revue, an exec member of the Global studies society, and a Law school Mentor!
Studying at Auckland Law School has given me the confidence to tackle the real world. Hearing and learning from my professors and peers has been valuable. University is the best place to expand our learning and take in the opportunities that we are presented with, which is something I would definitely recommend.
