Fast Track offer FAQs
How do I know I have received a Fast Track offer?
If you have received a Fast Track offer, this will show in 'Your applications' in your application portal. You will also receive email notification confirming your Fast Track offer.
Your Fast Track offer will appear as 'Approved' with an expiry date noted beside it.
Fast Track offers are made weekly from mid-May through to early December.
Can I receive a Fast track offer as an international student?
Fast Track offers are only available to students completing NCEA, CIE or IB within New Zealand.
If you are an international student who is completing one of the above exams at a New Zealand school, you may receive a Fast Track offer.
International students will be assessed as per the normal admissions processes and will receive a decision on their application once complete.
Why did I receive a Fast Track offer for a programme that I did not apply for?
In these cases, we have recognised that you may be eligible for a Fast Track offer for that specific programme based on your Year 12 high school results.
While the programme you receive this Fast Track offer for may not be your first choice, we encourage you to keep this offer open as another option. You can choose to wait for an offer to your preferred programme in the meantime.
My friend and I have similar grades. Why did my friend receive a Fast Track offer, but I didn’t?
Here are the main reasons as to why you did not receive a Fast Track offer:
- The programme you applied for is not on the list of Programmes eligible for Fast Track offers
- You have applied recently, and your application has not yet been processed. Please continue to check your application status. For more information, please visit Continue your application
- We do not have enough results for you at the time to make an assessment on your eligibility for a Fast Track offer
Even if you haven't received a Fast Track offer, please know that your application is still important to us. Your application will go through the standard processing once your results are released.
What can I do if my Fast Track offer has expired? Why has my Fast Track offer been withdrawn?
If you do not accept your Fast Track offer by the 2 January expiry date, your Fast Track offer will be withdrawn. You cannot request to have your Fast Track offer opened again after it has expired.
Please note that your programme application will remain and will continue to be processed as part of the University's standard process, once results are released in January.
Can I get a Fast Track offer to start in Summer School?
Fast Track offers are issued for Semester One only. These offers are not available for any other term, including the Summer School term.
If you have received a Fast Track offer and wish to get a head start on your university study, one of our Summer School programmes for school leavers may be an option for you.
- Summer Start
- Summer Start International
- Tōia ki Waipapa
- UniBound Summer - Pacific programme

If you are an international student currently in New Zealand and are about to graduate from a New Zealand secondary school or foundation programme, please visit Summer Start International.

What can I do if I don’t meet the conditions of my Fast Track offer based on my final results?
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements for their programme will have any enrolments dropped and their application declined. There are a number of options open to students to meet the Entrance Requirements into a programme of study.
Based on your results, you may wish to consider the following options:
- If you have gained University Entrance but did not meet the programme-specific entry requirements, you may wish to consider another programme at the University of Auckland. Students can apply for another Bachelor's level programme following one semester of study, provided they meet the GPA and any subject requirements. Please visit Find a study option
- If you have not attained University Entrance, you may wish to consider completing one of our Preparation and foundation programmes
- Applicants who have studied NCEA may also want to consider doing further NCEA Catch-up credits
Why have I only received a Fast Track offer to one of my applications, but not all?
Not all programmes can be offered through a Fast Track offer. To check if the programme you have applied for is eligible, please visit Programmes eligible for Fast Track offers.
If you have applied for multiple programmes and received a Fast Track Offer for one programme but not others, please be assured that if you apply on time and you meet the guaranteed entry requirements, you will receive an offer of place into those programmes.
