How can I become eligible for a Fast Track offer?
You cannot apply for, or request, a Fast Track offer to be made to you. Fast Track offers are made based on an analysis of Year 12 results across the country.
This analysis of results is used to build a model that helps us predict if a candidate is likely to attain the results needed to meet the requirements for their chosen programme of study.
Please note that this model works with consolidated data, and not at an individual level. No personal details were used in the analysis.
If I get a Fast Track offer, does this mean I have a confirmed place at the University?
A Fast Track offer is a conditional offer. You will need to meet the conditions of your Fast Track offer to receive a firm offer.
The condition of your Fast Track offer is that you must meet:
- University Entrance (UE)
- Any subject requirements for your programme* when your results are released in January. For more information, please visit New Zealand secondary school applicants
*For programmes in Engineering, Global Studies, Health Sciences and Nursing in particular.
Can a Fast Track offer be issued for any programme at the University?
Not all programmes can be offered through a Fast Track offer. For a list of all programmes that you could receive a Fast Track offer for, please visit Programmes eligible for Fast Track offers.
How do I know if I have received a Fast Track offer?
Your Fast Track offer will show in your application portal, under 'Your applications'.
Under the status of this application, the Fast Track offer will appear as 'Approved' with an expiry date noted beside it.
This expiry date is when you need to accept your Fast Track offer by.
Once you've accepted your Fast Track offer, it should change to 'Accepted.'
Please see How to accept or decline an offer.
Assessment of Fast Track offers for IB students in New Zealand
Students studying IB can be assessed for a Fast Track offer by uploading their predicted grades to their application portal. (These are the same grades that are submitted to IB.)
You can do this as early as October. Your predicted grades need to be uploaded by 1 December for the university to assess your Fast Track offer. Fast Track offers will expire on 2 January 2025.
After this date, the university will assess applicants during their standard School Leaver processing period once their final results are released.
To jump back into your application portal, please visit Continue your application.
When are Fast Track offers sent out?
Offers usually go out from mid-May to early December.
To take advantage of this opportunity, you must accept your offer before the expiry date, which will be stated in your offer letter and displayed in your application portal.
For the Semester One 2025 intake, Fast Track offers will expire on 2 January 2025.
What should I do if I receive a Fast Track offer?
We recommend that you accept your Fast Track offer as soon as possible.
Students who receive and accept their Fast Track offer before the expiry date can enrol in their courses early – enrolments for the next year usually open on 1 November. Therefore, you don’t have to wait for your final results to be released in January to enrol.
If you do not accept your Fast Track offer by the expiry date, your Fast Track offer will be withdrawn. However, your programme application will remain open and continue through the standard processing until your final results are released.
Once final results are released, students who meet the conditions of their Fast Track offer will be assured a place at the university and in their enrolled courses.
How do I accept or decline my Fast Track offer?
You can accept or decline your Fast Track offer by logging in to your Application for Admission. For more information on how, please visit How to accept or decline an offer.
What happens if I do not accept my Fast Track offer before the expiry date?
Fast Track offers that are not accepted before the expiry date will be withdrawn. You cannot accept a Fast Track offer after the expiry date has passed.
So long as you do not decline your Fast Track offer, your programme application will remain open and will be processed as part of the University’s standard process of applications. If you meet the guaranteed entry requirements based on your final results for a programme, an offer will be made to you.
What should I do if I receive more than one Fast Track offer?
Please accept the Fast Track offer for your preferred programme only.
If you receive more than one Fast Track offer, we encourage you to accept the offer into your preferred programme only and leave all other offers open. This means not declining or withdrawing your other offers.
The final decision is yours, but this is our recommendation to ensure you have other options in case you do not meet the entry requirements for your preferred programme.
If you have received multiple Fast Track offers but have not received a Fast Track offer for your preferred programme, you have three options:
- Accept a Fast Track offer for the programme you prefer most and start enrolling
- Wait for results to be released in January
- Decline your Fast Track offer
Option 1: Accept a Fast Track offer for the programme you prefer most and start enrolling
- Accept the Fast Track offer for the programme you prefer most out of the ones you have received thus far and get a start on enrolling into your courses
- After you’ve accepted your Fast Track offer and have enrolled into your courses, leave all other Fast Track offers open and wait for your final results to be released in January
What happens next:
- Your other Fast Track offers will expire but the applications for these programmes will remain open and will be handled as part of the standard process applied to all applicants
- Once your results are processed, your place in the programme you received a Fast Track offer for will be confirmed if you meet entry requirements
- Offers for other programme(s) you have applied for will also be made to you if you meet their entry requirements
Option 2: Wait for results to be released in January
- Leave your Fast Track offers open and wait for your final results to come out in January
- You can then decide on which programme to choose based on what offers are made to you in January
What happens next:
- Your Fast Track offers will expire but the applications for these programmes will remain open and will be handled as part of the standard process applied to all applicants
- Offers will be made to you for programmes that you have met entry requirements for
Option 3: Decline your Fast Track offer
- Decline your offer in your application portal
What happens next:
- Your offer has been revoked
- You cannot reinstate your Fast Track offer, but are welcome to make another application that would be handled as part of the standard process applied to all applicants
