Scholarships for the first year of undergraduate study in the Faculty of Science
Faculty of Science High Achiever Undergraduate Entry Scholarship
A Scholarship for the first year of undergraduate study in the Faculty of Science, up to $5,000 for New Zealand citizens or permanent residents who have applied for a University of Auckland school-leaver/first-year scholarship.
Department of Physics Scholarship
A Scholarship of up to $6,000 to support New Zealand citizens and permanent residents who are enrolling part-time or full-time in a Bachelor of Science in Physics and/or Geophysics.
Chillisoft Scholarship in Cybersecurity
A $5,000 Scholarship for international and domestic, undergraduate or postgraduate, full-time or part-time enrolment in the Faculty of Science in study relating to cyber security.
Frances Barkley Scholarship
A $5,000 Scholarship to support an undergraduate Māori or Pacific student enrolling in a BSc in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Science, Ecology or Marine Science.
Gillies Scholarship
A $3,000 Scholarship to assist a first year student enrolling in a BSc in the School of Chemical Sciences or Department of Physics.
Jean Heywood Scholarship
A 4,000 Scholarship for a graduate of Epsom Girls’ Grammar School enrolling full-time in the first year of an undergraduate degree in either Mathematics or Statistics.
Sinclair Scholarship
A Scholarship of up to $3,000 to support a first year BSc student in Biology, Computational Biology or Ecology.
Strive Towards Science Award
A $1,000 Award to support students participating in the Science Scholars programme enrolling in the first year of a BSc or associated conjoint degree.
External scholarships and awards
Bragato Undergraduate Award
The award may be granted to any New Zealand student who is undertaking a full time degree course in either viticulture or wine sciences at a recognised academic institution. The Award will be such amount as the Trustees agree up to a maximum of NZ$3,500 toward the cost of manuals, books, course fees, and course materials. The award will be for one year only, but recipients may re-apply in subsequent years. Applicants must have completed at least one year of study at the time of application, be aged under 27 at the time of application, and be a New Zealand resident. Applications close on 31 March each year.
